by Mazzy Star

Seasons Of Your Day is the fourth album from Mazzy Star, and is such a satisfying follow on from their previous albums. This is striking and surprising simply for the fact that their last album (Among My Swan) came out in 1996.

Whatever it is we love about Mazzy Star, there's more of it here in Seasons Of Your Day - the lilting enquiry of Hope Sandoval's voice and lyrics, the assured but fog-and-echo tones of David Roback's guitar, and a seductive pace which pulls us in and leaves us reawakening at the album's end. Elsewhere for fifty minutes.

Seasons Of Your Day offers Mazzy Star fans more of what we want, and while satisfying, this consistency is also exciting, thrilling, and not at all dulled. The album opens solidly with In The Kingdom, with other highlights including Common Burn, the title track Seasons Of Your Day, the country-tinged Lay Myself Down, and the guitar-battle between Roback and guest Bert Jansch on Spoon.
