PBS 106.7FM is proud to present the final installment of the Rock-A-Bye Baby Music Sessions for 2010, featuring one of Australia’s premier Afro Beat bands, Afro Mandinko, at the Fitzroy Town Hall on Thursday 2nd December.
The upcoming Rock-A-Bye Baby show is the fourth offered for this year, and features the high energy grooves and afro moves of Afro Mandinko. Drawing on influences from across West Africa, Afro Mandinko fuses the century old traditions of West Africa with contemporary styles, creating a vibrant blend of irresistible dance music. With elements of afrobeat, funk, latin, reggae, dance-hall and jazz, it’s a modern mix underpinned by the deep roots of the traditional rhythms and melodies of Manding heritage.
This energetic ensemble is a collaboration between a number of Australia's premier world musicians and features Melbourne based West African artists King Marong, Lamine Sonko, and Kuukua Ackuah.
The Rock-A-Bye Baby Music Sessions offer a gig going experience for carers and children where the music hasn’t been dumbed down or sugared up! It provides a chance for families to share the experience of live music in a safe and clean environment. Noise is welcomed, crawling is encouraged and dancing is expected.
