WOMADelaide has been going since 1992 and in that time has hosted a wide range of artists including Gil Scott-Heron, Miriam Makeba and The Dirty Three. The lineup for the 2014 festival is no exception and as has been the norm in recent years, a compilation cd to coincide with the festival has been released! It contains 16 of the artists who are performing this year and it's a great sample of how broad the festival is. From roots singer/songwriter Pokey La Farge (represented here by the toe-tapper Central Time) to afrobeat legend Femi Kuti (The World Is Changing) and Sydney future soul artist Ngaiire (Dirty Hercules), a lot of genres are covered. Not to mention Norwegian indie folk singer Ane Brun (To Let Myself Go) and Brooklyn Banghra group Red Baraat (Shruggy Ji)!! The compilation makes for a great listen and certainly a great introduction to some great artists that one may not have heard from otherwise!
