by Nick Waterhouse
In 2012, Nick Waterhouse released his debut, Time's All Gone. At only 26, it was an extremely confident, although fairly derivative, first effort. Two years on, he's released Holly. It's fair to say that once again, his influences remain very much on his sleeve but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Although you can hear a bit of Ray Charles, a bit of Van Morrison and so forth, the songs are still very strong and you can really hear a sense of fun coming out of the speakers! This Is A Game is a real toe tapper and a great example of the fun i'm talking about along with tunes like Dead Room and Ain't There Something That Money Can't Buy. Combined with moody slower tunes like Let It Come Down and Hands On The Clock, Holly is a really punchy album and definitely one to check out!
