by Hat Fitz and Cara
Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson’s new album Do Tell is unmistakably contemporary, but at the same time sounds like it could have been made 100 years ago. With the renewed interest in lo-fi, old-time folk sounds, this husband and wife duo have really taken the sound and made it their own. After local and international success with their last album Wiley Ways, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson certainly deliver again with this record. Offering plenty of variety from the country-infused 'Friday Night', to the blues-heavy 'Gotta Love', this album is full of energy. The album was co-produced by talented local Jeff Lang (who recently released a great album of his own I Live In My Head A Lot These Days), has his sound all over it, with Jeff himself playing bass. Highlights include the tuneful ballad 'Long Dark Cloud', the driving rhythm and energy of 'Excuse Me' and the moody texture of the title track. An excellent album if you like old-time country sounds infused with other influences.
