The Villenettes Lady Luck PBS Feature Record
The Villenettes are a hard rocking all girl four piece out of Adelaide, and they’ve just released their debut full-length album Lady Luck. They love Elvis, bad horror movies, leather jackets, and running amok on a Saturday night. They play loud riff-driven songs about zombies, cowboys and jerks and you’ll be hearing them across our rock shows this week, so keep your ears open!
Lady Luck was recorded at Melbourne’s Head Gap Studios (graced by the likes of Adalita, Magic Dirt, Paul Kelly and Violent Soho), and it's out on legendary local label Off The Hip Records.
The Villenettes are currently touring to release the album, and will be hosting a spooky shindig at the LuWow on Friday the 13th of March, with support from The Reprobettes.
The Seven Ups The Seven Ups (Featured on The Breakfast Spread)
If you want to party your way through the last few weeks of warm weather, Melbourne newcomers the Seven Ups will help you do just that - it's tight, addictive and forces you into a good mood!
To make a solid Afrobeat album you need to have some pretty talented musicians, and this is where the Seven Ups come into their own. Co-produced by Tristan Ludowyk, who has also worked with the Bombay Royale, the album weaves its way through various territories including funk and jazz, giving it a very current sound and releasing it from the constraints of a straight Afrobeat album.
Songs to listen out for include Senora Doll, Not Afraid of Dying and The Boss. If you’re a fan of Cookin’ On 3 Burners or the Budos Band, it’s likely you’ll jump right into this debut album from the Seven Ups.
