There is good reason to celebrate with the 2015 Reclink Community Cup right around the corner as the event marks a very special milestone this year - it has been running for 21 years now. With the final preparations taking place for the 21st event taking place, Melbourne has become a buzz of excitement as the iconic charity football match, which is held on Sunday 21st June at Elsternwick Park will see Triple R 102.7FM / PBS 106.7FM Megahertz and the Rockdogs fight it out to see who will take have their name etched into the 2015 cup.
Reclink Community Cup has become such an iconic date in the Melbourne music fixture over the 21 years, and it raises money for disadvantaged folk for Reclink Australia, an organisation who have set up sports and arts programs to assist marginalized people and get them re-engaged in society etc. Coincidentally Reclink Australia are also celebrating a milestone of their own this year - 25 years of operation. So there is double the reason to celebrate!
Kicking the day’s entertainment treats off after gates open at 12noon will be Ally Spazzy’s Kiddyrock & The Cool Bananas who will be entertaining the kids with their very special brand of fun. Next up is melancholic pop trio Pearls, followed by the legendary Adalita for the pre-game entertainment. Paul Kelly & Dan Kelly combine forces to deliver their own special take on the Feelin’ Kinda Sporty song Dave Graney & The Coral Snakes made famous in the mid 90s. Half-time will see The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra set the place alight with their infectious afro-beat. Post match entertainment will be served up by party-starters Graveyard Train performing what will no doubt be a killer set proving yet again they are one of the most entertaining live acts in Australia today.
Adding their own aural wizardry to the day will be commentators Tony Biggs (Triple R’s On the Blower), Leapin’ Larry L (Triple R/The Age)and Rauri Curran (PBS’s Fang It!). Plus stage MC’s Emma Peel (PBS‘s Switched On) and Jon Von Goes (Triple R’s JVG Radio Method).
