Described variously as a ‘shamanic saxophone prodigy,’ a ‘music virtuoso’ and a ‘once in a generation musician’, Isaiah Collier is a Grammy nominated artist, who calls himself a sonic scientist, curator, composer, activist and music director. Emerging from the vibrant Chicago jazz scene as a and multi-instrumentalist and notable tenor saxophonist, Isaiah is a heir apparent to a post Coltrane sax tradition.

This week’s PBS Feature Album is Dakar Bamako, the third studio album by Ausecuma Beats.

Dakar Bamako features a total of fourteen musicians from three cities around the world, coming together in a true cross-cultural collaboration that celebrates stories of migration, cooperation and the unifying power of music and dance as a force to bring humanity together.

This week’s PBS Feature Album is Chorus, the third studio album by Mildlife. 

On Chorus, Mildlife link microcosmic personal meaning with a macro view from on high. Chorus is the sound of singular entities coalescing into a wondrous whole. This week’s PBS Feature Album is The Great Bailout, the ninth studio album by Moor Mother aka Camae Ayewa. 

Called “the poet laureate of the apocalypse,” by Pitchfork, Ayewa’s music contains multitudes of instruments, voices and cacophony that take on themes of Afrofuturism and collective memory with the forebearers of jazz, hip hop and beat poetry in mind.
