From the very start, PBS 106.7FM has led the way for all Melburnians to experience live music with broadcasts from the back of the Prince of Wales in St Kilda more than 30 years ago.

That strong live music tradition continues with PBS Studio 5 Live, weekly live performance broadcasts from the PBS studios. The vibe is grassroots, with an unwavering commitment to quality and diversity.
The sessions consist of a half hour live set and a short interview with one of our announcers.

For info on upcoming PBS Studio 5 Live performances, tune in to the Breakfast Spread’s Studio 5 Archive on Tuesdays at 7.15am or follow us on Twitter @pbsfm. You can also keep your eyes on this page for info on what's ahead, watch, or listen back through the on line audio archive.

Los Bitchos’ hallucinatory surf-exotica is as evocative as it is playful: the London-based pan-continental group could well be your new favourite party band with their instrumental voyages that are the soundtrack to setting alight to a row of flaming sambucas and losing yourself to the night.

Their unique sound binds them together, taking in a retro-futuristic blend of Peruvian chica, Argentine cumbia, Turkish psych and surf guitars.

Nigel Wearne saunters after dark in the music of the night, blending blues, jazz and Americana-noir. Swathed with rambunctious horns, Gretsch guitar, drums and double-bass, they’re a 6-piece with a retro vibe that smacks it straight back to the 60’s. A deep thinker and truth seeker with a penchant for all things peculiar, Wearne sings of human frailty, grace and the cosmos; songwriting that cuts to the bone.

Kuzco - the Australian/Maori synthesist, vocalist & producer living and creating in Naarm/Melbourne - is a deeply revered figure on the Naarm and Meanjin scene as a heavyweight session keyboardist.

Recently forging her own sound, Kuzco's musical background spans countless genres and songs, embodying and reflecting on her musical heritage. In her own words "the intention is to write music that activates the sensuality of feeling music in the body, and reigniting the self with fluid movement."
