Northern European experimental folk group Heilung use everything from human bones, reconstructed swords and shields up to ancient frame drums painted with the blood of the band's members. Invoking texts from rune stones, spear shafts and amulets, Heilung celebrate iron age ancestry with new age sounds. Ahead of their upcoming Australian tour, Kene chats with the band about what it's like to bring antlers, bones, and 30 musicians down under for what promises to be a string of captivating shows.

Originally formed in 1982 as Metal Asylum by Glen "Lucy" Luck on bass guitar and Rowan Powell on guitar before being renamed Armoured Angel in 1984. Armoured Angel pushed the musical boundaries of the local thrash metal scene and were pioneers of Australian death metal before disbanding in 1999. Mainstay and bassist Glen 'Lucy' Luck joins Kene to talk about some recent re-releases and share some stories of the early years of Australian extreme metal.

Recorded on November 30, 1976 'Ariel LIVE at Martinis 1976' is the 39th release from Australian Road Crew Association’s (ARCA) Desk Tape Series. Ariel's guitarist and vocalist Mike Rudd catches up with Chris about the album and its launch at St Kilda Sports Club on September 29.
