Zaffé is a glimpse into an abandoned building in Beirut where a generation has come together to commemorate what has been lost through migration and time. There is dancing, singing, ululation, wedding games, gossip, and long-distance video calls, but something is missing. Featuring Arabic-language covers of pop songs and underground techno, Zaffé is a celebration hosted by artists from the Middle Eastern diaspora. Based in the Central Victorian goldfields, autoharpist Graeme Fletcher and fiddler Amy Cecil formed Alluvium in 2022. Initially jamming on traditional tunes, the duo soon started to build up a repertoire including original songs and recently were joined by banjoist Mick Harrison. This combination of musical styles and backgrounds creates a dynamic and fun group to be a part of. Alluvium graces the PBS studios to play a couple of tunes.
