Trumpeter Phil Slater calls through on Soak this week to chat to Owen about his upcoming duo concert with Matt McMahon at the Melbourne Recital Centre, April 29. Slater and McMahon have performed and recorded with legendary figures including Archie Roach, Peter Sculthorpe and Lou Reed. The artists’ intuitive bond, cultivated over decades of shared performance history, brings clarity to their work as a duo. The gig is part of the Melbourne Jazz Coop's 40th birthday.

SAFF is a not-for-profit event organised by a group of passionate volunteers to showcase South African talent, culture and diversity and support educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and made it's debut as Sydney South African Film Festival in 2019. The first is a solo EP called 'Swamp Magik,' and the second is a collaborative trip hop album with Jess Zammit under the project name Zam Ram. They are playing Open Studio in Northcote on Saturday 9th April as well as gigs in Bruthen, Orbost and Lakes Entrance en route to the National Folk Festival in Canberra.
