In 2022, Boubacar Gaye and Bassdi Koné, from Melbourne-based ensemble Ausecuma Beats, returned to West Africa to visit their homes in Dakar and Bamako respectively. Two years later, the band's third studio album, Dakar Bamako, became the embodiment of their vision of bringing Melbourne, Dakar, and Bamako together in a work that celebrated the creative energy coursing through the streets of these cities. Ahead of the band's album launch on April 21st, Gaye chats with Stani Goma about the album.
