Omelette Swarm Theory (PBS Feature Record)
Happy 10 year anniversary to Omelette Records! I for one can't imagine the Australian electronic festival landscape without the sounds and sights of Spoonbill and his Omelette records crew. There is no doubt that Jim's (real name) foray into developing the glitch sound, and his own unique take on it, has had a profound impact on the local electronic festival scene, ahem Rainbow Serpent, Earth Frequency and beyond. No doubt this extends to local artists, with many influenced by his sound, let alone those in the USA, Canada and elsewhere, thus paving the way for artists like Opiuo to go on to great success.
I shan’t bore you with specifics of the album, as you can find details on the Omelette website (link tohttp://omeletterecords.com/release/swarm_theory), but you can expect artists from all around the world, such as locals Mr Bill, Griff and aforementioned Opiuo to internationals like Russ Liquid and Tipper, the latter two of which he collaborates with on separate tracks. Another featuring artist we have to single out is Frank Riggio, whom we discovered thanks to Jim and have since featured on the show regularly. Be sure to check his work with Amon Tobin.
As for Spoonbill and the epic Omelette parties they are second to none, giving the audience a full blown immersive sensory experience, with a large and elaborate stage show consisting of multitude of live performers with various instruments, theatre stage show performers and incredible visuals with his partner VJ Dropbear. Missed the album launch party or want to relive the Swarm then this compilation will serve you very well indeed :)

Dick Diver Melbourne, Florida (Featured on The Breakfast Spread)
More outstanding melodic rock from a great Melbourne band. Since forming in 2008, Dick Diver have released an EP (Arks Up) and two albums (New Start Again & Calendar Days). These were excellent releases but I feel that they’ve really come into their own on their latest album - Melbourne, Florida. The sound is slightly more polished and certainly more confident, resulting in a stronger collection of songs. 'Waste The Alphabet' is a fun opener and I am struggling to get second single 'Tearing The Posters Down' out of my head. Steph Hughes also sings a couple of tunes including the excellent 'Leftovers', a slow burner of a tune which really grabs you by the end. Melbourne, Florida is a really strong album – Dick Diver's best to date.
