How To Listen To PBS

PBS News
Fri 27 Jun 2025

We've recently upgraded our high-definition stream from 128kbps HE-AAC to 192kbps AAC-LC — a shift that bears a noticeable boost in audio quality. With this enhancement, you'll hear less compression and more sonic detail, resulting in greater clarity and depth across your favourite PBS shows.

Whether it’s the subtle textures in music or the nuances in spoken word, this upgrade ensures a richer, more immersive listening experience. While it might sound like a bunch of radio jargon, what it really means is we're doing everything we can to preserve the integrity of the sound — so your music comes through just the way it was meant to be heard. Technically speaking, you're in for a smoother ride on PBS airwaves.

It’s all thanks to the generous support from our members and donors that we’re able to keep advancing our vision of making community radio stronger, sustainable, and more accessible for everyone.

With more and more ways to listen to PBS, we are here to give you all the options. You can find our free to air radio broadcast on 106.7FM and DAB+ in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.

Streaming

You can also listen live through our website by pressing the play button at the top of each page. If you'd like to listen to a previous program, head to the program page you desire, select the date you want and press play.

We have a PBS app, that is available free to download from either the Apple app store, or Google Play. You can stream live or listen On Demand through our app.

For those of you who like using other apps, we are on iHeartRadio and TuneIn. We are also picked up by many other streaming apps, some of which we don't even know about! If you suddenly stop being able to get PBS on any app, please contact the app directly and let them know.

You can also let us know, and we will do our best to reach out to them too.
